The Forgotten Ones
Score - 20
Final Verdict -The Forgotten Ones is a good example of what to expect out of an average indie game. The concept has potential, the beginning shows promise, then the momentum dies out very quickly into the experience. It pretty much lacks any wins through any of the pillars we use, and it doesn’t offer anything meaningful or memorable. This game is easy to skip.

Only If
Score - 22
Final Verdict -Only if is an interesting concept that never develops into an enjoyable experience. It has a unique atmosphere but lacks any real engaging gameplay and it feels more like a short experiment than a complete game. I’ve played Pizza Hut demo discs from 2000 with more complete story telling. At least the experience is brief.

Super Contra
Score - 24
Final Verdict -Super Contra does exactly what it’s trying to do. Fast challenging arcade-style shooting action. Outside of that, there’s nothing else. Short arcade challenges were playable in the 90s but by today’s standards the game isn’t worth playing. It’s more of a historical experience or a Nostalgia splash.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
Score - 26
Final Verdict -Chain of Memories took a swing and a miss with its optimistic combat system, pair that with lackluster game play and repetitive storytelling and you have an all-around bad experience. The only reason to play this game is to fulfill your commitment to the series. My suggestion is to watch the cut scenes and save yourselves the 25 hours that I’ll never get back.

Gauntlet: Slayer Edition
Score - 28
Final Verdict - Gauntlet: Slayer Edition has potential to provide you with a cool experience IF you have the right group of people to play with, but the fun comes from the players not the game itself. Quite frankly even with that being said the odds of you and your group sticking through the full 40-hour experience is pretty low anyways. It’s a shallow arcade dungeon crawler at its base.
#38
Ascend: Hand of Kul
Score - 28
Final Verdict - Ascend Hand of Kul introduces us to a very unique concept with loads of potential. Sadly, it fails to deliver as more thought was put into the idea of the systems and less thought into the actual execution. This game is kind of a turn your brain off and hulk smash some things, but if you’re wanting a memorable experience, there are better options.

Darkest Dungeon
Score - 28
Final Verdict - Darkest Dungeon is edgy and has an awesome atmosphere. It has a great degree of difficulty that quickly goes from a pro to a con when the difficulty is surrounded by randomness and permanency. By the time you finish this game you won’t be feeling accomplished or proud, you’ll just be saying “Thank God that’s over.” When a game feels like work it’s going to lose some points.

Pokémon Green
Score - 43
Final Verdict - Pokémon Green is more of a historical artifact than an operational story-driven game. It laid the groundwork to something incredible, but you can experience the same thing in a more polished version of the game in Red or Blue. As with all Gen 1 games the only actual challenge comes from self-imposed handicaps in the form of different Nuzlocke variants. If you are just overall curious about the roots of Pokémon, skip this and play red or blue.

Pokémon Red/Blue
Score - 44
Final Verdict - Pokémon Red/Blue are absolutely legendary. They show you the basis to a franchise that generations have and will love. Any true fan of the series will at some point have to experience these games to truly appreciate how far we’ve come. However, Pokémon loyalists are the only audience that will enjoy this game. If at this point you’ve never played it the odds are you’re not a huge Pokémon fan. If that’s the case, then keep on scrolling there’s better fits below this review.

Final Fantasy II (Origins)
Score - 45
Final Verdict - Even though the Origins version of the game improved some minor issues it is still a subpar experience. In terms of polish and enjoyability FFII takes a step back from its predecessor in the name of boldness. The game offers some very unique progression systems and puts Square’s bravery on full display. Final Fantasy is the greatest RPG series of all time, but this insert is just along for the ride.
